The Malta Resuscitation Council (ERC) has organised a Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Course for St Aloysius College 6th Form staff on the 7th February 2020. There were 51 candidates in total, making this the largest BLS Course the MRC has every organised. Core skills taught were: how to assess a collapsed victim; performing chest compressions and rescue breathing (integral to proper CPR technique to get the circulation going); safely using an automated external defibrillator (to restart the heart); placing victims in the recovery position; as well as effectively managing a choking victim.
The MRC embraces the European Resuscitation Council’s vision of training communities to respond to cardiac arrest in a timely manner. This is only achievable through education and hands-on practice, both of which are offered during our courses. We encourage every institution to organise a BLS Provide Course with us; it is only when we change our minds that we can restart hearts.
