Instructors from the Malta Resuscitation Council took the opportunity to explain the benefits of bystander Basic Life Support and the use of the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) during the Open Day organised by the Maltese Cardiac Society on Sunday 20th October.
During the morning activity at Mater Dei Hospital, various members of the public, ranging from the very young to the quite advanced, had the opportunity to go through the Check-Call-Compress algorithm, emphasising the early calling of the emergency services, as well as the benefits of good compressions.
A lot of interest was shown in the use of the AED, with a number of persons showing interest in BLS/AED courses if these had to be organised at schools or local councils.
